Today I got 30/30 on my math, so we went to Starbucks to celebrate. When my mom and I got there I still had Olive from our walk and an elderly man said "I don't mind the dog." So we left Olive with him, went in and got our coffee, and came back out to drink it deciding to sit with the man. It turns out that he is a homeless poet and after we talked for a while he gave me one of his poems, called:
Orion's Poem
by Antonicus Corpus (Tony)
for Marcus (Mark), who loves mythology & poetry
I am Orion the Hunter
Destined to roam the endless heavens
Doomed to atrophy without a touch
Searching for a smile, a kiss, perhaps too much
Continuing his search for a house
Where shine those lights of kindness
Through window eyes of a most clear love
I am the constant seeker, roamer
Doomed to walk until I die
Or find the hidden redeemer
Of my gifts, to pliant golden wings
Hiding in a giving heart
A lovely dove I must coax to fly.
I am the patient weaner, weaver
Of laughter, molder of new hope
I am the true believer
In strength undying, hearts of diamonds,
And that diamond strength, that heart and hope
ARE YOU < THE BIRD OF MY LIFE.
